sanjay, do you work for arturia and native ? you covered all the stuff but seemed uninpressed, Im no expert & just got akai mini plus, it is a high quality well thought out 'human to music technology interface assistant' ,, maybe you dont get it.. how can you talk about other companys gear being better integrated with their own soft wear, akai has mpc beats and smple packs, and midi out cv out for really jams on real gear,,,, just saying my opinion as yours is leading people to arturia

I just watched a straight up 8 minute infomercial that didn't even demonstrate the product at all? Literally mashed the right arrow key all the way through and didn't hear any audio at all. Come on man, at least present this stuff as sponsored advertising up front.

QOTW: my answer is in regards to mastering, as there are too many variables (and thus no "go-to" move for me) in the mixing process. Subtle multiband compression (stock Cubase plugin) > Newfangled Saturate (hard clipping peaks) > the God Particle (limiter off) > Ozone 11 Vintage Limiter (analog mode) > Ozone 11 Maximizer Each of these steps are doing a little upward nudge and control at the same time. It's really common for me to get tracks up to -7 or -6 LUFS integrated while maintaining 6-12dB of dynamic range.

I recently got GForce Axxess and MiniMonsta2. Both sound excellent, have great extras like the LFO/EG mod matrix and notably CPU efficient compared to other synth emulations I have.

II think you forgot to mention the new beta version of FL Studio 2024 by Image Line, which includes some quite interesting features for the upcoming final official version. Not to mention, the stem separation is excellent, and the new plugins and instruments seem exciting. The IL team also tends to go in the AI assistance direction like other competitive companies. As always, lifetime updates and upgrades are free of charge. 💗I can't say that manufacturers of other DAWs can do the same for their own customers. Clearly, IL can still generate extra income from additional plugins, instruments, content, and FL Cloud and DistroKid, to keep the company afloat, which makes total sense.😏

Reason studios Maximizer is my go to.. I mix in Cubase but I use the rack, plug-in and load maximizer

Soundtoys is best. And not that expensive either.

Speaking of limiters, for me, as always, Izotope Ozone from the music production bundle works above and beyond, and the FabFilter Pro L2 limiter from the mix and mastering bundle is also excellent.

QOTW: Don't really have a single tool for loudness as 1) there are different ways to achieve loudness (i.e. through clipping, through limiting ... and simply by increasing the gain) and 2) I have way too many options for it ;). And with some news to share because why not: Waves is now at V15, StudioRack is now StudioVerse Effects, added StudioVerse Instruments (same concept but just for instruments) and you can now get Waves stuff through Plugin Boutique. Take the news as you like ;) =]

Hi Sanjay, do you know or is there anyone that knows a really good studio headphone that has great sound but is also perfectly suited for traveling? One that has a really good sound like my current beyer dynamic dt 770 but is also perfect for travel and doesn't take too much space? One that is portable and maybe has the ability to collapse? This is mainly meant for music production on the road.
